Liam writes, "Back in August, my brother, Rory, and I did some sailing in the Gulf Islands off British Columbia's coast. Surprised to find this deadhead in the ocean, then later found a large herd alive on an island called Sidney. Fallow deer, I guess. Decided to quickly hunt some sheds and Rory found the small one in the ATL. Surprised us to see 3 melanistic ones in the bunch, maybe the fallow deer (?) have a dark phase?
Rumours abound of some coastal islands there in the Gulf chain and farther south in the San Juans (U.S.) of some weirdo species introduced and established for sportsmen or other reasons. This must have been one of them."
