Tom Brown, of Ojo Caliente Outfitters, harvested this awesome ram while hunting with Dave Morris of Arctic Alaska guide service. Tom writes, "We had three nice days getting into the camp for the season opener on August 10th. We saw lots of grizzly tracks and scat on our hike into sheep country keeping me on my toes and close to the rifle at all times! On the first day we saw thirty rams, but failed to get within shooting distance of a legal ram. On day two, the clouds came in, and we had fog and rain for the duration of the hunt with the exception of a thirty minute break on day three. We had been in that mountain hardware tent for what seemed like a lifetime, when the rain finally let up on day three and we saw a small patch of blue sky. It was then that I said to Dave, "I need to get out of this #$%$# tent", and Dave agreed. We hiked up the first narrow canyon south of our spike camp, and at the half way mark, we spotted this ram and two yearling rams. By the time we were able to determine that he was a legal ram, he had made it straight up and stood broadside at two hundred and fifty yards. I made the off hand shot because no rest was was available, and just as we were going up to check him out, he decided to come to us and rolled end over end for the full two hundred and fifty yards, landing almost at my feet. We dressed him out in the rain and enjoyed every minute of it! We saw lots of sheep on this trip and I witnessed two young rams fighting on an ice field one afternoon. The Arctic is a spectacular place and I won't soon forget this white ram hunt! All four of Daves clients took nice rams, despite the adverse weather conditions."
