Josh Austin writes, "For weeks I debated whether I should bring my bow or rifle on this caribou trip to Alaska. I finally came to the conclusion that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I had a better chance at bagging a bull with my rifle. After a long morning hike with my brother and father, we saw a group of bulls on the top of a ridge about a mile away. The weather was hot and the bugs were terrible. The caribou would get on the highest object possible so the wind would give them some relief from the biting bugs. My Dad stayed behind to be the spotter and watched the bou from the spotting scope as my brother and I began our hike. With the help of two-way radios, my dad put us almost on top of the bou. I was able to get within 13 yards, and I kept thinking that I wish I had brought my bow.
This was a great family adventure and the memories will live on for many years to come!!"
