Colby writes, "I watched this bear for almost and hour with no shot opportunity. It wouldn't come far enough out of the treeline for me to be sure it wasn't a sow with cubs, and I wasn't convinced of its size without a good look at it's lower half. I looked away for a second, and when I looked back, it had walked back into the trees. After sitting still for 30 minutes waiting for it to come back out, I continued up the logging road, thinking I had missed my chance. To my delight, I relocated the bear a couple hundred yards away, but still not out in the open enough to get a good look. I stalked to within 125 yards, and watched it for a couple of minutes while it grazed on the grass at the edge of the trees. Finally, it came out in the open to get at the new green grass growing in the sunny middle of the closed logging road. I could see it had a big belly, no cubs, and no rubbed spots on his hide. My .300 WM barked once, and the bear fell where it stood. The bear got bigger the closer I got, and I was really excited when I was unable to stretch my arms wide enough to touch it's nose and tail at the same time. When my friend arrived, we measured him---6 ft. and 1 in. from nose to tail!"
