John Lease writes, "I made nine attempts and finally succeeded on the 28th of October. I was hunting in dry crunchy oak leaves using spot and stalk techniques I learned in Montana and Washington. I was able to get within 150 yards while he was in his bed. One well placed shot from my pre-64 Winchester 270 and the season was over. During this season however, I was also lucky enough to see his larger companion before and after the season so I am counting the days until next year."
